The filling of this appointment, for which "r, Claremont was selected but which he subsequently declined, has been very difficult. Our repeated advertisement has failed to produce a candidate exactly of the type we want. After consultation with Dr. Dobbie and the Eastern Department I now put forward, as the best candidate available;-
Q.F. Lubatti Age 27. Son of a General in the Italian Army. Educated at the University of Turin, where he obtained the degree of Doctor of Chemistry, which we are informed is a qualification of considerable
value. Nr. Lubatti has had a certain amount of ex-
perience in this country though not very much, but Dr. Dobbie thinks that he is sufficiently qualified for the present post. Ir. Lubatti
makes an excellent
personal impression and is a good looking well made fellow who might well pass for an Englishman. His
reports are entirely satisfactory. The appointment will
be somewhat a speculation but I hope that it may turn
out well.
